THE MAGIC OF CHILDREN'S PLAY!'

OUR CRANE

We have discovered some great little finds at our local ‘Aldi Store’ from time to time.  This little wooden dock play set was one such find.
Notice the ‘googled’ images of docks on the shelving behind. ‘Google Images’ and a laminator, fantastic!
A great tool for bringing the world into the preschool environment.
The children absolutely love this little set… loading and unloading ships, delivering containers to warehouses, factories and homes.
But, when ‘tuning’ into the children’s play…
…we realized that it was the cranes that had really captivated their interest.
And this is where Brian comes into the equation.  We have a grandfather at our preschool who drops in and visits us at least once a week.  Even though his grandchildren have long since moved on, he loves to come in and help us out with a bit of maintenance work from time to time.  Unfortunately for him, but lucky for us, I have also discovered that there is not much that Brian can’t create when he puts his mind to it.
So, I asked Brian if he thought he would be able to make a crane for the children… well the next day, the crane was delivered to some very excited children!
And as you can see…
… they were fascinated with it!
It now lives in our block corner, and tends to feature in the children’s play on a daily basis!
How lucky are we!?  Brian is a wonderful contributor to our preschool community and we greatly appreciate his desire to help make the preschool a joyful place for our children to be.

  1. I love this and have my own “Brian”. Aren’t they wonderful? Could you send me a few pictures of the crane? I would like to ask my Brian to build such an item.
