This is a fun and creative activity we found our children really enjoyed.
What you will need (but really, I’m sure you will be able to think of many more items):
-
large pieces of polystyrene foam
-
wooden hammers/nails
-
buttons
-
pipe-cleaners
-
wire
-
beads
-
bottles tops (with holes in them) … etc.
This activity is great for promoting eye-hand coordination skills, finger dexterity, cognitive planning and concentration.
Just lay all the materials out on a table and let the children at them!
We left this activity out for several days for the children to come and go as they pleased.
And finally, a masterpiece! 🙂
I love it, those are like pieces of artwork when completed. I tried the golf tees & pumpkins for the first tiem last year but love this idea as an extension, mmmmm I can see the pumpkins as a 1st term, this as the 2nd term & then the real thing with tree stumps for 3rd term. Thanks for more inspiration, Kierna
I haven’t tried the golf-tee/pumpkin idea but will do! 🙂
AWESOMEEEEE
Love this! I keep coming across bits of foam that we have used in various ways but never like this. Thanks for posting
Have fun with it Geraldine! 🙂
Brilliant…we used this foam to create collages by pinning paper with pearl headed pins, but I love the dimension that your children achieved and the fact that they made something so fabulous out of recycled bits and bobs. Aren’t littlees so unafraid to be creative 🙂
Ooooo I like your collage idea! I will keep that idea in mind! Thank-you. 🙂
