THE MAGIC OF CHILDREN'S PLAY!'

OUTDOOR STORAGE.

This post is largely in response to a question posed by Jenny over at “Let the children Play”,  ‘How do you organize your lose parts outdoors?’  Well, the answer at our Preschool is, like this:

These storage tubs were built for us by one of our Dad’s who just happens to be a cabinet maker.  He charged only for the materials… so, we got three for under $150.00!  Truly amazing!

These tubs are stored underneath our pergola and are opened at the beginning of each session.

We created these photograph/labels so that the children can put everything back where it belongs at the end of the day.  And they do a brilliant job!   We have just one problem, we are greedy and we want more!  We have discovered just how convenient this form of storage is!

Do you think he would be willing to fly up to Sydney and make some for us Karen?! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. How lucky are you?

  4. We have been blessed. Daryl has been wonderful to us. His last child is with us this year so he will be moving on. 🙁 Manchester Primary School have already started benefiting from his amazing talents and generous nature! Unfortunately, he is in great demand so I can’t see a trip to Sydney being on the cards. Sorry Jenny!

  5. wow- what a wonderful idea!

  6. I’m greedy too. I want some! Gimmee, Gimmee, Gimmee, Mine, Mine Mine!!!!

  7. Ha Greg! Surely there is a handy man within you??? 🙂

  8. Great storage bins!!! I know you said they are under a pergola – how have they held up over the years? They look like they were constructed out of a medium density fiberboard and probably sealed/finished. What’s the climate like in Melbourne? Do you all have any humidity/moisture issues? We’re in Atlanta, Georgia USA, and it gets pretty humid and wet here, so I’m not sure something like that would hold up well outside here, even in a covered area, here. But, they look awesome! Are they solid at the bottom? How do you all maintain them as far as sand, water, bugs getting in them? Any issues of kids trying to close the heavy lid and fingers getting pinched?
